How to install the PhraseApp Client

Mac OS X

On Mac OS X you can either install the PhraseApp Client via Homebrew or by manually downloading the binary.

Install via Homebrew



1. Tap our Formula repository:

$ brew tap phrase/brewed

2. Install phraseapp client using brew:

$ brew install phraseapp

The Formula will be updated whenever you call brew update.


Install via Download



1. Download the latest release of the PhraseApp Client for Mac OS X.

2. Store the executable at a location where it can be found by the system or create a symlink (see PATH)

3. Set the executable flag to make the binary executable if necessary:

$ cd path/to/phraseapp && chmod +x phraseapp

4. You should now be able to execute the PhraseApp Client:

$ phraseapp
# or:
$ /path/to/phraseapp/phraseapp

Windows

1. Download the latest release of the PhraseApp Client for Windows.

2. For your convenience you may want to add phraseapp as a command to the Windows PATH:

setx phraseapp "C:\path\to\phraseapp.exe"

3. You should now be able to execute the PhraseApp Client via cmd:

phraseapp
# or
C:\path\to\phraseapp.exe

Linux

1. Download the latest release of the PhraseApp Client for Linux.

2. Store the executable at a location where it can be found by the system or create a symlink (see PATH).

3. Set the executable flag to make the binary executable if necessary:

$ cd path/to/phraseapp && chmod +x phraseapp

4. You should now be able to execute the Phraseapp Client:

$ phraseapp
# or:
$ /path/to/phraseapp/phraseapp

Build from Source

Other platforms that have a Go port, can build our client from source.

Note: If you’re using Xcode, Android Studio or Visual Studio, check out our IDE plugins for syncing locale files between your repository and PhraseApp.
